Well, you just can’t go to a specific place to find a moose…they are just about everywhere though, so you might just run into one(literally)…be careful

Not sure where Rangeley, ME is. I’m from Caribou and you could find them anywhere there were trees. Specifically, moose would come out of the woods at dusk and at dawn to avoid the black flies. I remember seeing many of them after sunset, too. During the winter, we had to be cautious around large snow drifts because moose would show up and lick the salt from the road-side snow.

If you’re in the southern part of the state, I’d recommend Baxter State Park. Sure, it’s near Bangor, but you can find plenty of moose there especially around the larger lakes. With Mt Katahdin there too, you could get some very nice photographs.

Chocolate, hair…oh not mousse, you mean the four legged kind with the big antlers? ;o) Sorry, Dunno:o( Last one I saw was at Yellowstone.

There was supposed to be some in the mountains in Utah where I lived, but all the time I spent in the mountains there, I never saw one. Lot’sa deer and lot’sa elk, not one moose. I think they really avoid humans and are harder to find than deer and elk. I think there aren’t very many of them too.

But it seems like I heard you guys up there have them coming into the towns though. Might check Main St;o)

    Good luck.

Do something nice for a stranger today. And tell them to pass it forward.
    Good life to you.

Go online and check out hunting guides in the area. I know it sounds weird but I got in touch with one and he cut me a great deal in Colorado when I wanted to find and get close to Elk. I got soem INCREDIBLE shots of a couple of 6X6 Bull elks duking it out and they were about 30 feet from us. The guides KNOW where the animals are ALL the time. They also know how to SAFELY approcah and keep you from becoming goo squished between the toes of a big bull. Check with them and find out when they do their pre-season scouting, if you ask them to show you the animals in the off huntig season they don’t loose money on a non-hunter, and everyone likes pictures of them selves. Most of the time if you offer to share your photos for free, so they can use them on their web sites, catalogs etc. they will take you along and it won’t cost you anything. Check them out and see what shakes loose! But be prepared. Don’t expect the guide to carry your gear and baby sit you. Be in shape enough to walk long distances and be quiet. make sure you ask a lot of questions and be fully prepared before you step to the woods. Having a good zoom lens is paramount. At a minmum I use a 400mm.
